Females, Football & Philanthrophy 2014

Females, Football and Philanthropy 2014 is bringing together powerhouse female football fans from the New Jersey and New York City metropolitan area. Hundreds of extraordinary women will be celebrating this glammed-up, tailgate event as a “kick-off to the big game weekend” on Thursday, January 30, 2014 at the Upper Montclair Country Club. For VIP attendees, doors open at 6pm for the pre-event meet-and-greet and photo ops! The main event begins at 7pm. This event will be benefiting the American Cancer Society.

This event will be featuring a full cocktail dinner and gourmet tailgate, wellness lounge, martini bar, cancer survivor award ceremony, silent auction, boutique shopping, cooking demos, swag bags, DJ entertainment, football throw for a cure…and much more!

Women’s Institute at Bergen Community College Bringing Career Mentors to Women in Need

HACKENSACK, N.J. – The Women’s Institute at Bergen Community College will host several career mentoring opportunities for women who wish to develop their professional skills in diverse industries such as real estate, technology, retail and food service.  The free-of-charge “Career Mentoring Sessions” will take place throughout the year at Bergen Community College’s Philip Ciarco Jr. Learning Center in Hackensack.

“The Institute empowers women by providing the opportunity to build new skills utilizing education and partnerships to become more influential and stronger contributors to the local community,” explains Dean Sandra Sroka, Bergen Community College Hackensack.

Registration is now available for the following sessions held from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at 355 Main Street, Hackensack, NJ 07601; there is no charge to attend and parking is complimentary.  Session schedule:

Jim Hopkinson is an author, speaker, and teacher living in New York City. His focus is on career development for the new economy, showing how new media, technology and branding are changing how people look at their career and lifestyle. He is the author of the book “Salary Tutor: Learn the Salary Negotiation Secrets No One Ever Taught You,” and has been featured in Forbes, The New York Post, and Real Simple Magazine. He writes a negotiation column for Salary.com, and has also written online for the Wall St. Journal, Monster, and Wired.

Jim has spoken on the topic of negotiation to groups such as the Women in Business Conference, Women in Telecommunications, and was twice chosen out of 3,200 applicants to speak at SXSW. Known for his high-energy and engaging presentations, Jim also co-founded the “Reboot Workshop” conference and hosts a blog and podcast called The Hopkinson Report. Previously, Jim was a marketing director at Condé Nast Digital, managing the online marketing and social media strategy for Wired.com.
